Monster High: Skultimate Roller Maze - Review

Lets start this with a little background. Monster High is a Mattel property focused towards, what I am guessing, young girls. More on it can be found at the official site. Seeing that I do not have any kids this made reviewing Monster High: Skultimate Roller Maze for the Wii and DS a tough order. It is obviously not pointed towards me, but I enjoy a challenge. So I popped the game in and started my first journey into this world of teen monsters.

More Wii Bundles

It appears that Nintendo is not going to let the Wii go quietly into the dark. Just a short time ago they announced a price drop and a new bundle for those that had yet to purchase a Wii, and now they have added fuel to that fire.  Today Nintendo has announced two more Wii bundles.

The first of these bundles is a White Wii that will come with a matching Wii Remote Plus and Nunchuck as well as Ubisofts Just Dance 4. This bundle has an MSRP of $129.99. The other bundle is a blue Wii with matching Wii Remote Plus and Nunchuck. Its big difference is that it will come with Skylanders Giant, one portal of power, two Skylanders characters and one exclusive Giant Skylander. This system has an MSRP of $149.99 attached to it. More money for more physical items I supposed.

Both of these bundles are set to be in stores on Nov 4, 2012 and will be availble in limited quantities. At least that is how I read "while supplied last" in the press release. What the starting supplies are though is anybody guess.

Wii Price Drop

Are in the market of a Wii, a second Wii, or a replacement Wii? Well have a I got some good news for you. Nintendo is releasing a new Wii bundle as an attempt to make one final push on Wii sales before the Wii U ships. This new all bundle will be replacing the current system that comes with New Super Mario Bros. Wii. This system will include a black Wii, black Wii Remote Plus and matching Nunchuck controller, and both Wii Sports and Wii Sports Resort on one disc (both fancy and convenient).  The best part of this, the new system is going to retail at $129.99.  While stores are already getting the new console you can expect it to be widely availble by 10/28/2012 (Nintendo has a thing for Sundays it would seem).

Comic Con International is Coming

The mother of all Comic Conventions is around the corner, and that is San Diego Comic Con. It has grown leaps and bounds, and now encompases all entertainment, and not just comics. As such this means a number of game developers / producers are setting up shop. What can you expect to find on the show floor? Well here is what has been reported after the jump.

Young Justice: Legacy - Creator Interview / Preview

"Young Justice", the Cartoon Network TV series about the younger DC heroes, is getting its own game. This game is 100% canon with the TV series. To get more on this we sat down with the creators of Young Justice for details on how this will work.

First a little background on the series. "Young Justice" has reached the second season, and if you are following it you may have noticed their was a five year gap between season one and season two. A lot changed during that gap. Artimis and Kid Flash both left the super hero life style, Beast Boy and Blue Beetle joined the team, and Aqualad turned to the dark side and works for Black Manta, his father, now. But how did this all happen? When Little Orbit (the studio making the game) approached the creators they decided the game would be the perfect way to tell how what happened. The game focuses on what is initially a search for a missing archeologist, but turns into something much bigger. The mission takes team members to locations such as Greece and Siberia for this major event, and eventually involves members of the Justice League.

The creators of Young Justice (the TV Show). This game has been in production since October and is going to play a little like "Marvel Ultimate Alliance" where you choose your team and level them up. This allows you to fell as if you are growing them into the heroes you see in "Young Justice: Invasion". Robin (Dick Grayson) becomes Nightwing and Robin (Tim Drake) is introduced as an example. As you play this, you form these characters into what you see in the show. The game overall will have 12 playable heroes. They are Nightwing, Superboy, Miss Martian, Aqualad, Kid Flash, Artimis, Zataana, Beast Boy, Tempest, Robin (Tim Drake), Rocket and Batgirl. Together the will have to defeat 12 villains. The tag line for the game is "One will rise. One will fall. One will die". Given the series will see Dick Grayson rise to Nightwing, Aqualad fall, but the death is a mystery to me. I can guess that it may be Zatanna since I have not seen her in the series, but that is just a guess. Look for more on the game at http://www.youngjusticelegacy.com/.

Edit: Looks like I was wrong about who will die, the mystery is still alive! Thanks commenters!

New Wii Bundle

So what do we have here?  Well it looks like a new bundle for the Nintendo Wii.  It appears to have a black Wii system that is set to sit sideways.  We have the "New Super Mario Bros Wii", a Super Mario Galaxy soundtrack, and black Wii-Motion Plus with Nunchuck.  This is all coming out for $149.99 on October 23.  Now be warned though, this system does sacrifice a function that many have loved.  This new system does not support the Gamecube or it's accessories.  So no "Super Smash Bros Melee" with a Gamecube controller.

This does not mean they are fully removing backward compatibility (yet).  They are going to continue selling the Mario Kart Bundle for the same price.  So if you have any Gamecube accessories laying around, for the old bundle, otherwise this new bundle looks pretty nice.

You can check out the full press release after the jump.

Legend of Zelda : Skyward Sword Bundle Release Info

Image courtesy of gonintendo.com Check out their site for the full press release by clicking the imageNintendo has just announced details concerning their up and coming Legend of Zelda release.  As stated earlier, the release date is official November 20th.  At that time of release, Skyward Sword will be sold in a limited-edition bundle including the game and a gold Hylian styled Wii Motion+ Controller for the price of $69.99.  This is a very good deal as you get the Wii Motion+ controller for only $20 with the game.  It's useful for those of us like me, who haven't made the plunge into buying one of the new controllers.

Nintendo is also including a special treat for everyone who buys an initial production copy by inlcuding a bonus CD containing the 25th Anniversary soundtrack as performed by the symphony this fall.  So not only do you get the game, you also get a fully orchestrated soundtrack of the past twenty-five years of classic Legend of Zelda music.  And for those of you not interested to purchase the bundle, never fear.  Skyward Sword will also have just a game disc release for $49.99 and will also include the music CD for the initial production run.

I don't know about everyone else, but I for one am excited and am really looking forward to this game.  I'm going to have to go and see who I can do a preorder from so I can get that controller with the game.  It looks really nice and it's a good buy for me.  I'm also really digging the official cover box art for the game.  I know there has been talk about the game's esthetic, but I really do like the water color look of the illustrations and game.  It makes it feel classic and timeless like an epic story.  Just a couple more months to go at this point and I can't wait.

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword Release Date

I'm at Gamestop yesterday getting a game for my wife and they had a sheet of release dates on the counter.  Conveniently it was opened to the page with The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword and a release date of 11/02/2011. Of course I had to ask if this was a Gamestop estimated date or an actual release date, with the answer being an actual release date.  The employee even went as far to show me what the date would have been in Gamestop estimated it.  So there you have it.  We should be able to expect the most recent version of Zelda out for this holiday season, but what else does that mean?  Well unless Nintendo is doing a record release time for an announcement of a new gaming console, this game will not be on the Project Cafe system.  It also means that Nintendo actually has something worth buying this holiday season.  WOOHOO!
